Hello everyone,

I am wondering if it is legal for me to build my own spring powered air rifle that fires little 6mm plastic pellets. Similar to one in this YouTube video here
.

I know that it is illegal to import realistic air soft guns into Australia but I cannot find any information regarding to whether making one myself from ordinary parts from Bunnings (and not taking it outside of my house) is legal.

Thanks

Yes it is illegal to own or possess.

Victoria Police - Weapons Definitions

'little 6mm' plastic pellets could easily be 6mm ball bearings. And 6mm is larger than a 22 caliber bullet.

Make it fire gel ball pellets.
That should not be illegal.
Gel balls are not legally ammunition
Your gun is not a replica firearm as it does not substantially look like a working replica of a real gun.
