Telcoguy1, if everything you say is true and there has been no contact since 2014, and even if there was and it was of "good behaviour", then fight this vexatious ivo. I see you are in Queensland, the state that actually has legislation that the police must follow prior to handing out one of these IVO's but guess what...They never do.

So you will be appearing in court pretty soon. The first hearing is just to see how you plead. All of 10 minutes, but expect to sit in the court house foyer for most of the day. Just self represent for this, save your dollars.

Walk in, tell the Judge you will be contesting this vexatious IVO on the fact that A. the Queensland Police never interviewed me prior to the IVO being put on me, which they are legislated to do, and secondly, if they had, they would of found out that this is vexatious and the only evidence that the applicant is relying on is over 4 years old and was never abusive in nature.

You will then been given a trial date. Months away.

Once again, it's up to you if you want to self represent, or this time, have representation. You're a young fellow and you don't need this crap hanging over your head or on your file, you don't need travel restrictions, you don't need job restrictions, so fight it.

I'm sick to death of this IVO, DVO crap going on in society these days, and QPS just hand them out like candy instead of doing their jobs and "investigating" them further. As the solicitor said to me, "its a snowball thats got out of hand, and no one can stand in its way to stop it"....

Fight it all the way, but don't loose your head to shelling out thousands of dollars, when you can do it yourself. Remember it's your paperwork/evidence that does the talking for you in these events.

And as Sammy01 said... do not make contact. That done and dusted. And things can go south from here pretty quickly, should you make contact. And yes as a bloke it's only normal to try to find out "what the hell just happened"... but in this instance save your talking for the court room
Wanted to say thanks for this information.

Hi

Self represent.

If it was served on you just a few days ago I'm sure you have 21 days to object.

Fight it. No need to spend thousands on a lawyer.

Like people said above you have a strong case to defend her allegations.

They will set a date for trial.
She will dismiss it at the end, if what you say above is true then she a lost cause for putting one on you.

Don't have any contact with her at all.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

I also agree we should be able to private message people so help can be sought.

I have a barrister on Probono. He read through it and laughed

The mention hearing went. Odd.

I told the duty lawyer my side and they spoke to the other parties duty lawyer

They came back saying they had agreed to withdraw. However in the hearing that wasn’t what happened.

What happened in the hearing then?
The duty lawyer told the judge that we had agreed to settle outside of court.

There was a photo of some random persons privates, no date for when it was sent or how though and defiantly not me.

Judge decided that because there was that sent to have a hearing in January.

I contested obviously. However she still put a temp order on me. Which is fine. I won’t breach it.

Welcome to the Queensland legal system, it's a complete crock... Judges just want to stay employed, along with all their mates in the legal system...

Anyways, you were advised that this would end up going to trial, but once again don't be surprised if they pull the pin on it at the 11th hour. Now the waste of tax payers dollars begins, and the police have to do some actual police work, and you will have to make sure you follow up on getting a copy of the the "updated" QP9 at least a week before trial so you can see what information they are relying on.

How do I go about getting that given to me? It’s just so strange... Such a waste of time.

I’m not even sure in what police work they can even do. All they have are emails from four years ago. None threatening and random Snapchat account names.
