Hey guys,

In regards to my previous thread about impersonating someone, I've been notified that the police will contact me further.

I guess they'll be wanting a police interview. My lawyer suggested me to remain silent. It is possible that they may drop the case if they don't want to use too much of their manpower.

I'm not too sure what the process is though:

Interview-->if remain silent--> then will they notify me that the case has been dropped, or will they turn up and arrest me or give me a summons to court?

This sucks because I'm flying out for a Europe trip in 2 weeks which has been organised a few months ago. I know I have much bigger problems...

Firstly, just as a guide for a newbie, if you reference a previous question that is related to your new question, the standard practice is to continue in the original thread or copy/paste the URL of the original thread in the new one. This is just to assist the other members so they don't have to go looking for the information you posted previously. Whenever you paste a URL, it will automatically create a link to the relevant page while showing it's title as the text like this:

This question is in relation to this thread: impersonating someone online/email

So with that out of the way, a couple of simple things. If you are photographed and fingerprinted, then you will know that you have been charged. You will also be given a copy of the appropriate paperwork and may be asked to sign some paperwork. If none of that happens, then you have not been charged.

Next, you have a lawyer and you should follow their advice. The fact is that you haven't provided sufficient detail on here in regard to what actually occurred - and given that there is an active Police investigation, I would recommend that you don't. The problem of course, is that your lawyer is privy to a lot of information that the members here don't have and because of that, I doubt that any of the members here, particularly the lawyers, would be willing to provide any opinion that may contradict your legal representative.

So the only opinion that I can give is to direct any questions you have to your lawyer - after all, that's what you're paying them for.

That's up to the Police, but I don't think they would hold you in custody for a charge of that type unless you're a flight risk.
