Recently a neighbour in my complex had a waterproofing issue that arose whereby storm/rain water somehow began leaking from his balcony / terrace into the apartment below.
Strata engaged an engineer who advised the original balcony tiles had to be removed so waterproofing could be redone to stop the leak.
Strata agreed as per by laws to cover the cost of waterproofing problem however the owner was responsible for retiling the balcony....neither the building insurance policy or contents insurance policy would cover the cost.. .. (Other insurance companies were contacted but say no to tile insurance under the contents policy.) The question is then are balcony tiles/pavers uninsurable ? This could happen to any one of the many owners in future ?
