how sheriff ascertain which the property belong to debtor if living with families

Yes, did debtor change address with the court? If no, they come to your address.

Does the debtor own a share of any items in the house?

no idea if debtor change the address with court.

if they cannot find the debtor, so they come to our address and took our items? that's too ridiculous.

yes, theoretically they can only take debtor's items.

but, I am still very confused what it is in reality.

Why the owner has to provide evidence the items are not debtor's? Why not the sheriff provide the evidence which item is debtor's before taking?

further thinking,

what if the sheriff go to the wrong address and take items from that address? will the sheriff ask is this the debtor's current address?

I think you are ovrthinking it.

If you provide an affidavit it should be sufficient.
