Dear Reader, does a "Verbal Contract" in a retail partnership have time limits applied to it, example, in the United States a person is not allowed to enter into a "Verbal contract" agreement if that verbal agreement is to last more than twelve months. Moreover, "Verbal contracts" cannot exceed the value of approximately one or two thousand dollars in America. Does anyone know whether or not such "Verbal Partnership" agreements have similar time restrictions or other restrictions here in Tasmania or Australia as a common sense measure toward minimizing the potential for unfounded litigations? I would highly appreciate any responses. Regards, Donald

I see it's been a while since this was discussed, but I'm curious—has anyone here actually taken a verbal contract dispute to court? I’ve heard that proving terms can be tricky, especially without written proof. If anyone has had success with it, what kind of evidence made the biggest difference?

Verbal agreements can be tricky, especially when it comes to proving what was actually agreed upon. If there are messages, emails, or even witnesses backing up the conversation, that can help a lot. I've found that thanksroger.com has some useful info on contract-related topics, which might give you a bit more clarity. It’s always good to have some kind of written proof, even if it’s just a follow-up email confirming the details.
