Hi, my husband was shoplifting last week. He was caught by the staff and they called the police. It was his first time and he took only groceries from the shop of approximately $90.

Police took him to their station and took many photos and records of him. After 5 hours, they let him back home while they gave him an appointment to present himself to criminal court for the next 2 months.

Was it a routine job they have done? While he knew he did something stupid, will he still have a criminal record? What's the best things we can to do when we cannot afford a lawyer? Is it better that he plead guilty?
