So i went through a covid checkpoint to regional victoria last year. they immediately searched my bag (they told me later that is was because people in ubers do "dodgy s**t"),
they found 4 ounces of marijuana.
they didnt interview me because of covid. just told me i would get summons in mail. which i did.
so i had borrowed someones car that had broken down.
thats why i was in an uber.
i grabbed the bag in the backseat so the car didnt get broken into and the bag stolen.
the owner of the bag doesnt want me to go down for it.
is willing to admit that it belonged to them and that i was unwittingly carrying it
my question is........
does this change anything?
seeing as i was in possession of the bag is it my legal responsibility regardless?
is it worth seeing a lawyer and fighting this or do i have no case??
thankyou for your time and consideration.
