Hello!

I'm making an contents insurance claim on stolen jewellery. The jewellery cannot be replaced for sentimental reasons. My insurer is refusing a cash settlement, and will only replace with jewellery of my choice.

Is this correct? Or is there a loophole somewhere that I can fight for cash payment?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Laura,

It should be detailed in the terms and conditions of your insurance contract. In most cases, you can find the information on their website. I doubt their is a loophole.

Have you checked the local second hand jewellery shops and pawn brokers to see if your items have been on-sold?

Agree with Lance.

Try looking at the PDS.
