I have been in Aged Care for 20 years and recently was convicted for credit card fraud. My police clearance is due in about 2 1/2 years and will then show the 10 counts of Fraud (they were not related to work and was on the lower scale) I am very concerned my aged care career will be over. Should I change careers now or wait? In my head I'm freaking out. Thanks.

talk to your union. I"m a teacher, I had an avo against me and my kids were 'protected persons'. I was scared that was gonna screw my working with children check. BUT all good. I think the convictions have to connect to your employment. So a charge of assault, especially to an old person would be very very bad.

I'm guessing no jail time? That too might help.. But talk to your union.
