Hi,

I'm wondering how I go about contacting the police to request my theft charge (total value items less than $400) be replaced with a fine. I have since bought replacements for all items, and returned them to the owner, along with a letter of apology presented in person.

I am currently on Community Correction Order essentially, just begun. I really want to complete it so I can move forward. A breach of order will make that difficulty.

Any help?

That's not how the justice system works.

If you have a charge that is before the courts, the magistrate will make a decision in regard to the sentence.

Hi, thanks for responding to my thread.

The charge is not yet before the courts. I have not yet been officially charged, apparently according to the policeman who answered the phone at the particular station. It's still a summons, which I have not yet been served.

Regardless of whether it's technically before the courts or still on summons by which you have not been served, this doesn't really change the answer in my original post.
