I'm embarassed to say that I've been charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage or cause disadvantage by deception.

I removed barcodes from cheaper items and used those for more expensive things at Coles, worth $70. Just wondering if you guys knew about these things. Will I get a criminal record from this?

Depends on what's decided at Court. You might get a slap on the wrist with no conviction recorded, you might get a fine, you might get a criminal conviction, you might get jail time. Who knows? All are possible outcomes.

In any case, you will need a lawyer.

If you plead guilty and the offence is considered trivial in nature, the court may allow it to be dealt with pursuant to section 10 of the Crimes (Sentence Procedure) Act 1999. This means no conviction will be recorded, there is no other penalty and you will have no criminal record.
