NSW Statutory Declaration - Who Can Witness?

Can any individual (standard member of the public) witness a statutory declaration?
Can a minor witness a statutory declaration?

Hi Toqual,

No not just anyone can witness a stat dec. In NSW you will need to have one of the following people witness it for you:

• Justice of the peace
• Australian Legal Practitioner
• Notary Public
• Commissioner of the Court

And no a minor cannot witness a stat dec.

Most pharmacists are also a Justice of the Peace. This is handy if you need something signed after hours - you can go to a 24 hour pharmacy.
