Hi there, can anyone advise what the earning threshold is for legal aid NSW?

My Girlfriend is a single mother of two girls, 6 & 10, and her ex doesn't pay any maintenance (child support) at all so she wants to apply for and obtain legal aid.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Trent,

The means test used by Legal Aid to determine who qualifies for their certain legal services, does not simply consider earnings, for example it takes into account:
  • assets such as a car, home or anything else of value
  • whether or not you are required to financially support another person or if they support you.
You can access the NSW legal Aid "Means Test Indicator" which will give you an idea of whether you qualify for their services here:
