QLD ATO fines & newstart allowance

If the ATO issue fines for non lodgement of a SMSF return, is a newstart allowance suspended, for the trustees?
If Yes, this would result in severe hardship and an instant homelessness situation.

Note that no fraud has been committed in the SMSF and no tax is payable either. Only late lodgement of a return.

You should get on the phone and speak to the ATO, and just tell them up front that you just now realized you did not lodge a return. If no tax is payable, they will not get very excited about it i should imagine?
