I am interested to know how to contact you with regards to an issue I had with Cactus Towing and their unorthodox manner, and to establish whether I may contribute to your forum which I would like to join.

Anybody here been towed by the slimy scumbags that are Elite Security and Parking Enforcement?

These pricks towed me a few weeks back whilst my car was parked at Central Brunswick Plaza. The thing is, I was a customer at a restaurant located in the plaza. I was parked no long than 1 hour of an allowable 2 hours (according to their well hidden sign). When I informed the low-life at the tow company of this I was told that all I needed to do was provide a bank transaction showing that I had been a patron.

I showed my internet banking transaction record at the tow yard and was told it was not sufficient. I then paid the 463 dollars to get my car out of the yard. I was made to sign a waiver to abolish them of all liability for damages. I refused and was told I would not receive my car back until I did so. I returned the next day with a bank statement and was told the same thing.

I asked them to check the security cameras and was told "It's not our responsibility to prove your were illegally parked, its your responsibility to prove you weren't". Incredible, hey? Basically they can just tow any car that is parked and you have to fight to somewhat no avail to get your money back.

Anyway I have lodged a claim with QCAT and been informed by the magistrate that what they have done is unlawful and I should have no problem recovering my costs, It will just take time. But, she also informed me that once these bottom-dwelling scumbags are proven wrong in the eyes of the law, I can proceed to seek compensation for the lost time and any damages.

Go seek legal advice people, these guys are operating outside of the law and need to be held accountable. In the meantime please PM me if anybody would maybe like to team up and go these bastards in numbers.

Jimmypatto, good work!

Not only that, the towies and/or the Central Brunswick Plaza management that ordered the tow, should be charged with a criminal offence; and if the law is insufficient to enable a prosecution then the law needs to be changed.

The public needs to be protected from this type of extortionate behaviour. The shame is that a brutal r**e and murder will need to take place as a result of an illegal tow away for the politicians to finally act and finally put an end to this despicable business model.

I got stung today at the car park on Mclachlan street. $660. Just a thought my car never actually got towed as I was back when he had just put the chain on the car to start putting the car on the tray. Does this still count as being towed or am I technically paying for a service i never received?

I was told forcefully that I had to pay the fine or he was going to tow my car. I tried to reason with the driver but he just got angry and brushed past me to start the tow. I had no choice but to pay him. Another thought is if i jumped in my car before he had it up on the tray and called the cops what would the outcome be then.

Hindsight I suppose but just a thought.

On the paperwork it states car first sighted at 12:19 and i looked at my phone when i rocked up and it was 12:21! How can you possibly justify that amount of money for not even towing my car. If you don't laugh you'd cry ha.

Any help would be appreciated. I have lodged a complaint with fair work and emailed the company which I doubt I'll hear back. I can appreciate a fine maybe but that amount of money is just daylight robbery.

Hi Jimmypatto, this elite security crook got me too last Friday, extorted 450 bucks from me. Just like you, I arrived in their caryard/garage and was given very limited option or I shall say they only gave me one sensible option, which is to pay the fee and leave with my car. To cut the long story short, I feel that we along with the rest of us writing our story in this blog are utterly ripped off. We are literally charged excessive dollars for parking in their parking lot for around one hour.

I can assure you all legitimate that towing service would charge between 100-200 dollars for a short distance service from Brunswick in the valley to their snake den's office in Nundah.

These socially irresponsible companies are only interested with extortion and nothing else. We should all report them and make sure they won't get away with their unethical practice

Report them to who?

The only two solutions is a change in law or to warn other parkers and starve them of funds. Personally I have warned at least ten so $6600 they have missed.
