Tradie contacted me via message from the gumtree ad for concreting backyard and removal of dirt. He quoted $4500 for concrete and excavation. On first/second day, he was given the job for pergola too for $2800. So far I have paid $6000+ in instalments via cash and credit card. He finished the concrete work, but not the steps and just installed posts for pergola. He is denying to do pergola now. On the last day when he finished, he left his few tools at my place.
Should I contact fair trading and/or council? Is there any chance for me to get any refund? I do not want him to do any more work for me because I am pretty sure there won't be any quality if he does.
