NSW Stalking, Death Threats and Lies on Social Media by Ex

My Ex is stalking and threatening to take revenge on me by various means. Like threatening to kill me or by contacting my wife and family and tell lies about how I was cheating on my wife with her after my engagement and marriage. She also threatens to post lies and posts on social media.

Can take any preventing measures like a restraining order?

You certainly can. In New South Wales, it's called an 'apprehended violence order' (AVO), and can be sought either through the state police, or privately of your own accord.

If she were to tell lies about you to your family or post them on social media she would likely also be publishing defamatory material for which you could bring a legal action for damages.
