In terms of remedies what happens if the plaintiff has a claim for emotional distress, but does not/is not willing to take any medications to help with their condition?

There is always psychotherapy and non-medication treatment for emotional distress. I am not as familiar with legal precedent or decisions in this arena, but on the health side of the fence, psychotherapy and "conservative treatments" can be equivalent to medication for many illnesses.
