You are allowed to record private phone calls in which you are a party in Victoria. State laws vary and most do require consent of the other party, but in Victoria you are OK (I think NT and QLD are OK as well but don't quote me)

How did this turn out?

Hi Rod,

In the end I did nothing. I tried to remove the reviews, but true Local refused to remove it. So I gave up on seeking compensation.

Never heard anything again.

But did I mention the guy was stealing clients from his shared company, and making the company he shares do the work for the benefit of his private company?!

Often the way, not worth the cost of pursuing your rights.

Re: Someone like that is often hard to pin down and even if you get a judgment in your favour there's no guarantee you'll get paid without another court appearance, and possible intervention by Sheriffs.
