Hello. I'm wondering if anyone here is a paralegal? I'm interested in a career as paralegal. Just wanting to know a few things to see if its suitable for me.

What is the work-life balance like? Is it long hours?

I am a single mum of 2 very young kids. I guess I really want to know if you think its a suitable career to pursue with young kids.

Thanks for your time :)

Hi Mia,

Being a paralegal is definitely more flexible then being a lawyer, but how much flexibility / work life balance etc you can negotiate and what sort of hours you work depends largely on the firm. Paralegals are to some extent treated like lawyers, they bill for their time that they charge to files and usually have a budget that they are expected to meet as well. Some firm's budgets are more reasonable than others. Sorry I can't be more specific, but it depends on the firm.
