My partner has been separated from his wife for more than 20 years. There is no property, assets or accumulated debts, and the only child of the marriage is now 22. My partner is on a disability support pension and we are wondering what he needs to do and the cost involved in getting a divorce. They separated less than 2 years into the marriage.

An application for divorce is currently about $850, but if your partner is on a pension, he may be eligible for a reduced fee, which I believe is about $250.
Your partner will need to have the application served on his former spouse, as well.
