If you have a written contract agreement to lease a car can it suddenly be terminated by a phone call advising the car needs to be returned ASAP as contract is terminated

Contracts normally have clauses relating to how the contract can be terminated. So the answer would depend on what those clauses say (if any) and whether or not the contract is required to be terminated in a particular manner.

Thanks. It seems the company feels that my husband breach one of the clauses of the contract. I have gone through the contract and he had fulfilled all the conditions of the clause except fir one where he was a couple of hours over the 24 hour for notification of an accident. He was hit by another driver existing a drop off zone at the airport. He has PTSD and the accident triggered a PTSD episode so by the time he was able to put in a statement it was just over the 24 hours. His psychologist is furious and wants him to commence legal action as she wants to provide a letter informing the company of the serious effect all the stress is having on him as the accident occurred just on a year ago and they have suddenly decided to act now
