I'm looking for advice if I can sue the WA department of corrections. I was a prisoner in 2016 on remand and the first night there I was raped by a prison officer I didn't report it to the prison because I was extremely traumatized and told myself it didn't happen so I didn't report it until 2020 and I withdrew the complaint because the police investigating were quite cold and unsympathetic.so I know I probably don't have a case because of statute of limitations etc. But I feel like I need compensation because this has caused me severe PTSD (diagnosed) and I'm unable to work due to multiple flashbacks per day and nightmares. I feel like I've lost my whole life because of this and feel so guilty and stupid for not reporting it straight away. And with compensation I would be able to at least have some stability and pay for the counselling I need. Thanks for any help.
