Hello guys,

I am staying in Melbourne and holding a permanent residency visa subclass 175, I have migrated to Australia on 21st Jan 2011 and completed 4 years of stay. I am planning to apply for an Australian Citizenship by this month's end.

My question – my home country passport which I am currently holding is about to expire on 27/06/2015, that means within the next 17 days. Do I need to renew my passport even though I'm planning to apply for an Australian passport?

Please suggest.
Thanks a lot.

I would say, yes. You need a valid passport to be able to leave your home country and stay in another country (Australia). This is the case even if you have a visa (a visa is attached to a valid passport and usually requires at least 2 weeks after the visa expires).
