I'm 51 and very eager to be vaccinated against covid-19.
I fall into the 2a schedule coming up soon.
My question is will I be able to refuse the AstraZeneca vaccine in favour of the Pfizer vaccine? I'm not an anti-vaxxer by any stretch of the imagination. And, I am well across the numbers when it comes to incidence of rare blood clots and the unlikelihood of experiencing that complication myself.
However, I am not willing at this point to roll those dice. I don't want to find out the hard way that I'm one of those poor mugs who drew the short straw.
The Government have made it clear that they want under 50s to get Pfizer, and over 50s, the AstraZeneca. But there has been no indication or discussion yet about whether over 50s will be able to opt for Pfizer.
