Committed fraud, sentenced to 13.5 years, with no restitution - as per judge. Served 4.5years, not long released & now a victim's is trying for restitution civilly. Is this possible? I will have to represent myself, as unable to afford lawyer, sleeping at a friends, no job or prospect of one as I am on the wrong of 50 with no skills. Still legally married & as wife had not yet filed separation papers I am considered in her income, so unable to seek legal aide. She is a nurse who has worked hard to keep herself & the kids afloat & doe not deserve any of this.
Thank you in advance for any advice.
