Today I was shopping in coles had two of my children with me, I was in a rush to get home. Didn’t empty my shopping bag properly and left a tea tree oil in my shopping bag. Paid for the rest of my groceries and hurried out as it was dinner time. I was approached by a undercover coles recoveries worker informing me I had shoplifted. He then escorted me with my kids to the back room of coles and took a photo of my driver’s license and a photo of myself also made me write what had happen and sign it. It was on my behalf a honest case of being distracted to get home and not checking the bags that all the items were put up to be scanned.
what I want to know is what happens now and what will happen to my photo they have taken?
first and last time that will ever happen as I will triple check my bags all this over $7

Wait and see but if it is an honest mistake then you can argue no dishonesty.
One would have to view the cctv.
I even explain to the security person that if I wanted to steal it wouldn’t I be cautious and look around and notice someone following me if that was my intentions?!
also when they ask me to write down what had happen and sign it does that mean I’m ban from Coles? Nothing was said about being banned.
