Hi , I am hoping to get some help here.

Is it possible to remove two criminal records (shoplifting) back in 2001 and 2003 which happened overseas? The amount was very small, it was around Aud $20. Since then, there wasn't any new criminal record.

I got my Permanent Residency approved back in 2008, and these two records were reported to IMMI. I am now planning to apply for an Australian citizenship and am hoping to do something to fix it.

Would you mind providing some help? Would really appreciate that.

Kind regards,

If the convictions were in an overseas jurisdiction then you will need to apply in that jurisdiction to have them removed. That is not an Australian law issue. However if they extended Perm Residency to you and you have not had any subsequent convictions in Australia then you may be alright.

You can compare the character requirements for Visas and for Citizenship here:
