Hi everyone,

I recently transferred a large sum of money ($50,000) from my overseas bank account to my mother's bank account here as I wasn't able to transfer the money to my own Australian account. She had agreed to transfer the money back to me as soon as she could, but she passed away not along after I transferred the cash to her.

She died not long after the cash transfer and we then discovered that she had a credit card debt of $15,000 with that particular bank in her name only. I fear they will use that money to pay off her credit card debt...

My dad and I were also thinking about contacting the bank ombudsman as we have no idea how the bank could let a pensioner have a credit card with a limit that high as well.

Does anyone know if I will be able to get my money back? I am meeting the public trustee about this matter soon.
