Thank you for taking the time to read this post!
My story is this…
A roo ran onto the road and I couldn’t avoid hitting it with my vehicle. It is not driveable but my insurer says it is repairable, but the cost of repairs is more than the car is insured for ($10000).
The only options I have been given are to write off the vehicle and just take the money, or to cancel my claim and get it fixed myself. I’m aware that other insurers offer a cash settlement where I can pay for the release of the damaged vehicle ($2000), I am paid the difference, and the vehicle does not go onto the Written Off Register and the vehicle is repaired at a repairer of my choice.
Is this a possibility in Victoria? Or do I really only have those 2 options? I’m happy to make up the difference in cost to just get my work car back in the road…
