We have had a caravan built and the specifications state the caravans TARE weight is 2814KG we have based all our calculations and modified our vehicle based on that weight, this would have given us that was 700kg of personal effects and tankage, more than enough for our trip around the country. We suspected the van was over weight once we got started on the trip and we have now had it weighed empty to confirm its TARE weight and it has registered 3500kg on the weighbridge some 700kg over weight, this means we are unable to add any personel effects, tools, water,... nothing can be added to the caravan so it cannot be used if we are to stay legal.
I need some advice and someone to negotiate the return of the van and a full refund so we can purchase another van that weighs less.
