Some futures prop firms charge a recurring monthly evaluation fee, while others use a one-time payment. Which model do you prefer, especially if it takes several months to pass? SATO Trades notes that Topstep’s total evaluation cost can depend heavily on how long a trader remains in the Trading Combine.

I went through the same math when comparing options. The thing about topstep pricing is that it scales with your time in the Trading Combine, so two months at 49 bucks is fine, but four or five months plus the activation fee adds up fast. I used it myself and liked the structure, but one-time fees win if you tend to take longer.
