I have recently been told by my employer that if I take time off to get married (I am asking for a week and I am an on call casual), they will hire someone else for when I have that time off and that I basically will have no job to come back to.

I gave them plenty of notice that I would need the time off over 6 months. Can they really dismiss me for taking time off to get married under Employment Law?

The FWO does not deal with dismissals.

if you are a legitimate casual, your engagement ends at the end of each shift. The exception is if you are a regular and systematic casual which will then qualify you for unfair dismissal rights provided you met the minimum period of employment.

Small business < 15 EEs - 12 months
Over 15 EE's - 6 months.

You may have an unfair dismissal claim at your disposal.
