Hi All,

My employer has notified staff that they will be changing our pay cycle from weekly to fortnightly, we have been given about 6 weeks notice. As I understand they are able to do this without consultation from employees, as long a reasonable notice is given.
This is all fine with me, BUT the way they are doing it means when we get our last weekly pay it will be a long stretch of 2 weeks before our next when the fortnightly pay starts. For a lot of us that live payday to payday this is a huge problem. They have given us a phone number to one of their HR people to discuss these issues, but I would like to know if they can legally do this?

Which award are you on?

Some awards can specify the pay period, others leave it up to the employer as long as it is no more than monthly.

Having 6 weeks notice sounds reasonable.
