Hi

I am writing on behalf of my cousin.
She is an Australian Citizen, moved to India around 12 years ago.
She has a learning disability which prevents her from getting employed, is at a Rehab center, her family is having a hard time to pay for treatment expenses.
Is it possible that she can try for disability benefit.
If yes, how much can she expect, and what is the procedure to claim?

Thanks
Sai

Thanks so much for your help Mr. Sammy.
The link you provided speaks of Social security. (not the disability benefit).
From what I see, she should have lived for 10 years in a row, which is true in her case.(born and brought up in Australia until 2008)
Any clue if there are contact numbers to inquire.

Thank you again.

- Sai

When you say she moved to India about 12 years ago, do you mean that she is currently residing in India? If so, she likely won’t qualify as there are Australian residency requirements to receive a disability payment. Most forms of Australian government public benefits are founded on being an Australian resident.
