If you knew a mother who declared she was a single parent when in fact in a defacto relationship when her child applied for centrelink, what would be the outcome? Would there be jail time? Would the child also be included if they were aware?

It is an offence - In terms of the outcome this will depend on a variety of factors, too many of which are presently absent to give a proper indication and any indication would be speculative at best.

In regard to the child - Hard to say, this would depend on the child's age and what role they played etc.
