Hi,
I work in health and have a postgrad degree in critical care and am interested in the Master of Health and Medical Law course, just wondering if anyone has completed this course/has information about career prospects/is it a waste of time? I'd be interested in eventually getting into management/executive roles in healthcare, although I don't have a specific plan/job in mind yet, I'm just brainstorming. There isn't much information on Uni websites. Tia

Medical and health law is probably useful if you are keen to work in academia or in medicolegal companies. Law firms would be less interested as they have their own network of expert witnesses etc to rely on and use.
It is definitely worthwhile if you are interested in it and your workplace has an appreciation of it. Usually clinical governance and higher policy areas may be interested, but usually a research project in a "hot" or popular area of interest would be more successful in landing a job or promotion...

lol bruh, Master of Health & Medical Law sounds epic but also kinda 😵‍💫 when you start thinking “what can I even do with this?”

ngl what helped me low-key map it out was scoping AcademicJobs.com. Not a magic “job appears instantly” site 😅, but it’s stacked w/ uni listings, law & health depts, research gigs, faculty contacts, and student roles. Basically lets you peek at real pathways, which skills are hot, and what kinda positions grads actually land.

I used it to see how people with similar degrees navigate research, policy, hospital/legal roles, and suddenly career panic → semi-strategic plan lol. Big brain vibes, zero sketch energy.

If you wanna figure out legit pathways from your Master without spinning in circles, AcademicJobs.com low-key the sneaky brain-hack move 😂📚⚖️💉

Ooooh Master of Health & Medical Law? Big brain + big ethics energy 😄⚖️🩺
Love that for you — it’s one of those degrees where the pathways are kinda spicy and super varied.

Some common career lanes (general vibes, not pro advice lol):

🔹 Health policy / gov roles
Think drafting guidelines, advising departments, shaping how systems actually work.

🔹 Hospitals & healthcare orgs
Compliance, risk management, ethics boards — all the “pls don’t get us sued” jobs 😂

🔹 Research ethics + university roles
HREC committees, oversight positions, research governance.
(Unis LOVE ppl who can translate law → practice.)

🔹 Medical defence organisations
Helping practitioners navigate complaints + legal messes.

🔹 NGOs & advocacy
Human rights, disability, mental health, patient safety… all the meaningful stuff.

🔹 Legal firms (health/med focus)
If you wanna stay closer to the traditional law route.

If you’re curious what the academic side of this field looks like — or wanna peek at uni roles, research positions, or policy-ish jobs — defs snoop AcademicJobs.com.
Loads of postings + insider-y faculty vibes so you can see what roles exist in the wild 🧠✨

You got this — future health-law powerhouse! 🚀⚖️
