Im 53yo male. I was accused of something that I did not do, apparently SA related, and that's hard to deal with and I am in nsw. It’s been 5 long months since an interim AVO was first served and police investigation began, no charges have been laid, police kept adjourning the avo mention over and over because they were waiting for devices to be checked, etc. I declined the request to come in for an interview on 27 Aug on advice by my lawyer.
The avo finally went to mention on 17 september following the last adjournment on 3 September where police had no update and my lawyer asked for a 2 week adjournment for police to provide update, but they still didnt have anything by mention date, so the avo matter is set down for finalisation at hearing on the 22nd Oct. Police to file by 1st Oct. Defence to file by 15 Oct.

Can anyone confirm if it’s fair to say the chance of criminal charges now being laid at this stage is very low? my lawyer can't commit to an answer on that of course. I've just heard stories where police can decide to charge at last minute, even if its just based on an allegation without any evidence, but surely it would have happened by now especially as the avo has been set for hearing. I just can't handle this any longer, it's taken its toll. This has all been a total shock, never had dealings with Police like this.
