My ex and I have a property investment which I want in my name. But my ex is telling me it can't be done, because it's an investment. Is this true? Please help

To clarify, you've purchased a property jointly with your ex and now you wish to have it transferred solely into your name? Is that right?

Hi Kazzy

A joint property investment can be transferred into your name as part of a financial settlement. You may want to confirm your ability to raise finance as if there is a mortgage against the property in your joint names, this will need to be refinanced into your sole name.

He purchased the property 8years ago and it's in his name. We are now going through a separation with3 depend children. I asked to move in and take over the payments and eventually put it in my name. He said I can't because it's an investment property.
