My daughter went to pay her friend's car registration and found out that sanctions were on the car because of unpaid fines, as he is overseas, he wasn't aware so he paid the $5000 fine online, and the sanction has not been removed.

He has limited English and is under the impression that the fine will not go away and will still keep accumulating into hundred and thousands of dollars. He isn't sure if he has to go to court over the unpaid fines which were about 6 months old.

My question is: as he has paid the $5000, is that the end of it, or will it keep on accumulating?

Thank you

Only he can say. What were the fines for, when did he last drive the car here, what is the date of offence of the last fine? Is he coming back to Australia?

Also ring Civic Compliance and see what they say. You will need a letter of authority from the overseas friend before Civic Compliance will give out any details to you.

Thank you for your reply...... Just seems unfair if they keep on adding to the fine as it has been paid........ He is not returning to Australia, unless he is to attend court........
