Hi. I am about to go to court for drug possession and cultivating cannabis. I am a New Zealand citizen. Would this, or a criminal record if I'm convicted, affect my ability to re-enter Australia if I travel abroad?

Short answer is "yes". You will need the permission of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
