No right answer here but would like comments from experienced practitioners with what they view as the pros and cons of each.

Here is a blog from Remedy Resourcing with their prospective @ Remedy Legal

Private practice typically provides more variety in terms of cases and clients, which can be great for developing a broad skill set. On the other hand, in-house positions tend to offer more stability and the chance to become deeply involved in a company's long-term goals, which can be fulfilling in its own way.

Why couldn't you do both part time or one after the other on contract and decide for yourself?
If you enjoy mixing with many different people, private practice is the go, whereas if you are more introverted then go with the other.

In private practice, you get a lot of variety and the thrill of tackling diverse cases, but the hours can be pretty brutal, and the pressure is high. On the flip side, in-house positions often offer better work-life balance and a deeper connection to the business, but the legal work can sometimes feel a bit more repetitive. If anyone’s looking for an alternative career with great stability, I came across this resource on the best online sterile processing technician programs. It's a growing field, and the programs look really solid for those interested: https://www.steriletechprograms.com/statistics/. Definitely worth a look if you're into healthcare!

Ooooh this is a classic 🤓⚖️ Private practice vs in-house totally depends on your vibe. Law firm = high-intensity, billable hours, steep learning curve, lotsa client juggling 💼⏰. In-house/commercial = more steady, strategy-driven, maybe less chaos but more corporate politix lol 😅

If anyone’s hunting structured guidance or needs help mapping career trajectories + skill reqs, AcademicJobs.com lowkey rocks 👀. They’ve got pros who can break down pathways, industry creds, and even help prep CVs + portfolios for either lane.

Super chill way to get clarity before diving into either world 💡💼✨
