I recently went to Queensland for a holiday trip, rented a car and received a camera ticket for between 30-40 km/hr. It was one of those highway that changes speed frequently between 110, 80 and 60 km/hr. I didn't realise that area was 60 km/hr and was doing 96 km/hr. Now I have received speeding fines with 6 demerit points to be deducted facing 3 month suspension.

Does anyone know how to reduce the penalty? I would need a drivers licence since my job needs to drive.

Hi Talkingtree,

If you haven't had a previous speeding fine in the last 10 years then you can apply to have the fine waived. Otherwise you may be able to try to appeal it on the basis that it was unclear - however I'm not overly confident of your chances.
