Hello,

I left my old workplace due to bullying and unprofessional environment in March, its now been three months and ive decided to start working again (havent begun yet) and removed all clients i previously treated from old clinic etc so I am starting fresh.

i set up my new business page on facebook... my old work place has seen this and now relatives and friends of my previous boss have posted pictures/memes/ comments attacking me personally and also attacking my work on the page. They have also said i am inexperienced and my work is terrible and for people not to see me. My old boss also abused one of my friends through a message. Is this still defamation if my bosses mother was one who posted this? I know my old boss would be behind it.
Am I best to speak to a lawyer first? Or should I contact my old workplaces head office and tell what has happened and will forward to lawyer if they dont address it?
Thank you in advance for any advice.

Yes.

And yes, you should speak with a lawyer. This is something I can help you with.

Make sure you have screen shots of all the posts/comments that defame you.

How bad the old boss and its family are!
You should make all records of defamatory message or photos in to your computer. defamation requires written publication, which must be malicious and harmful.
They may have defence of "truth" if those message are true.
I hope you have courage to carry on your new business without fear of those bad people.
Thanks

Sorry this is not correct.

Doesn't have to be written, and doesn't have to be malicious.

It is terrible to hear you are dealing with such coordinated harassment on your new business page, a struggle unfortunately common for many internet chicks trying to build a brand online.
You should definitely take screenshots of every single malicious comment, meme, and message to build a solid evidence file right away. Since they are actively attacking your professional reputation and messaging your friends, speaking directly to a defamation lawyer first is absolutely your best move. Reaching out to the old head office might just tip them off, so let a legal professional guide your next steps to protect your new venture.
