I'm writing this from my phone while sitting in my car in a parking lot near Al Majaz and honestly I have no idea what to do right now. I drove here this morning to run some errands, parked the car, did my shopping, came back about an hour later, and now my car just won't start. When I turn the key, I hear a rapid clicking noise but the engine doesn't even try to crank. The dashboard lights come on, the radio works, the headlights seem bright enough, but the car just refuses to start. I'm not a mechanic and I don't know anyone in this area who can help me. I tried calling a few roadside assistance numbers but they said they'd take at least two hours to reach me because they're busy. I've been sitting here for almost an hour now getting more and more stressed because I have to pick up my kids from school in a couple of hours. I've been searching online for car won't start troubleshooting tips in Sharjah hoping to find something I can try myself before I give up and call an expensive tow truck. Has anyone else experienced this clicking noise when trying to start their car? From what I'm reading online it sounds like it could be a dead battery or maybe a bad starter motor, but I don't know how to tell the difference. Is there anything I can try right now on my own, like tapping the starter with something or trying to jump start the battery if I can find someone willing to help? I'm really stressed and I don't want to make things worse by trying something stupid. Any advice from people who have been stuck like this before would mean the world to me right now because I feel completely helpless sitting here.
