Hi,

Just out of interest, if one party to the family law proceedings decided to move to Qatar and not finalize any matters, what could the potential ramifications ie. court to issue bench warrant? will the matter just continue unopposed etc?

No warrant will be issued for failing to continue, the likely outcome is that the matter will be found in favor of the other party

I went overseas for work and just updated my ATO details to non-resident for tax. As long as you're not earning anything in Australia, you shouldn’t need to do tax returns here.

I went through a similar process last year. For the packing and moving part, especially if you’re sending stuff from Canada, I used https://discountmoving.ca/fr/ and they made things way easier. They helped with arranging shipping and even gave tips on what documents might be needed at customs. Just make sure you check what items you're allowed to bring into Qatar before sending anything over.
