My ex is not an Australian citizen and has almost completed an 8-month prison sentence for breaching VRO. He also has 1 Grievous Bodily Harm conviction and 2 Assault convictions as well as 6 DUI convictions on his criminal record.
I am aware he is subject to an Immigration Review.
My question is, how likely is it that he will be transferred to an Immigration Detention Center pending the result of the review under Immigration Law? Also, how long should it take for a decision to be made on Deportation or because he served less than 12 months will he get off with a warning and be set free at the end of his prison term?
