I completed a medical for possible employment at Kinnect for work at Monadelphous. I was not employed and Kinnect informed me due to a red flag I could not get a medipass card. I have requested the results of the medical and any reports from Kinnect and Monadelphous, both tell me they cannot give me either I have to request from the other. How can I get a copy of my medical records and a copy of this red flag report?

Under Australian law, an individual does not "own" their own medical records - it is the property of the GP or doctor that created them. However you are generally entitled to obtain a copy upon request (except in limited circumstances).

A valid request for your records must:
  1. be submitted in writing;
  2. provide your full name and address;
  3. state the precise medical records you seek
  4. state how the information is to be provided (i.e. hard copy, soft copy).
It can however be time consuming and often you will be charged a fee, especially if the records are voluminous.
