VIC How to get bike back from friend

my husband bought a motorbike and stored it in a friends garage we found out the friends partner had slashed the tyres and scratched a disgusting word into part of the bike, so we want to get the bike and take it else where. But the friend won’t give it back, he doesn’t answer phone or he’s door what can we do to get the bike back?

Call the local police & arrange a standby breach of peace ... Basically it's an arrangement where police accompany a person to collect personal property... Make sure your husband has enough documentation to prove ownership to the police.

Make sure he arranges a time when he knows for certain someone is home
